PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi left for China on Tuesday to participate in a meeting of Afghanistan’s neighbours.
Foreign ministers of other countries, including Russia, Iran and Central Asian states, will also attend the two-day meeting, which begins tomorrow (Wednesday).
Qureshi is expected to discuss issues like regional peace, economic security and matters related to Afghanistan with his counterparts and Chinese leaders.
Meanwhile, Mehr News Agency reported Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also departed for China to attend the third meeting of Afghanistan’s neighbours.
He is accompanied by several senior officials, including Iran’s special representative for Afghanistan and the assistant foreign minister.
In October last year, Tehran hosted the second meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighbours, plus Russia.
