QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Over 1,615 positive cases of Tuberculosis were registered in northwestern Badghis province last year, with 12 patients dying, according to health officials on Wednesday.
Shafiq Ahmad Sultani, Tuberculosis Laboratories Head at the Public Health Department, said: “In 2021, 1,616 positive TB cases were registered in Badghis and 12 patients lost their lives.”
Addressing a gathering marking World Tuberculosis (TB) Day here, Sultani said as a result of improved security and large turnout of patients to hospitals, the number of TB cases surged last year compared to 2020.
It is worth mentioning that TB is one of the 10 deadliest diseases worldwide.
