PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Director of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock for central Logar province says fruits orchards are being established on 125 acres of land.
The gardens are being established in coordination with the agriculture department funded by Roots of Peace in Pul-i-Alam City, Mohammad Agha, Baraki Barak and Charkh districts.
Sayed Amin Haji Mohammad, director of agriculture, told Pajhwok Afghan News the orchards were being built on 125 acres of land. The orchards included apple, peach, apricot and other fruits.
In addition to saplings, the gardeners were being provided with fertilizers as well, he added.
He said the government was striving to provide facilities for people in the agriculture sector.
Jamshed, a resident of Pul-i-Alam, told Pajhwok he had built a garden of almond on his one acre of land and he was provided with some tools and fertilizers by the donor organizations and agriculture department.
Mirwais, a resident of Barg area of Mohammad Agha, said the almonds of Logar were very famous so that was why he wanted to establish an almond orchard.
