KABUL (Pajhwok): Uzbekistan has pledged financial support for the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway track construction, an official said on Friday.
Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesperson Ahmad Zia Takal said Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Investment Omar Zakove made the pledge during a meeting with acting Foreign Minister Ameer Khan Muttaqi in China.
“Both leaders welcomed mutual cooperation framework and progresses in this regard and hoped this will be finalized soon,” he said.
Foreign Minister Muttaqi said: “Afghanistan provided transit for Uzbekistan goods and similarly Uzbekistan provided transit facility for Afghanistan goods.”
Uzbekistan Foreign Investment Minister Omar Zakove hoped that Afghan government would facilitate Uzbek investors in Afghanistan.
“Both sides stressed over the launch of three nations railway road construction whereas Uzbek side pledged financial support for the project if it faced with funding problem.”
