Kabul (Pajhwok): Some people claim that a women’s meeting in central Bamyan province was disrupted by a number of women who tore down background banners, while officials and eyewitnesses say the meeting was not disrupted but some women tore apart the banners after the event ended.

Social media users posted a video clip showing four women tearing banners of a meeting in Bamyan province.

Some social media users say that Bamyan women disrupted a meeting which was organized in support of the Islamic Emirate.

Videos posted on social media show three to four women tearing banners of a meeting in Bamyan while participants of the meeting are leaving the area.

Sohrab Sirat, a person in a tweet said, “The Taliban organized a program titled ‘Bamyan women’s support to the Islamic Emirate’, but some women left the program in protest of the Taliban’s policies towards women, and some of them tore the meeting banners.”

Radio Azadi also published a report titled ‘Women in Bamyan disrupted a meeting of Taliban.”

However, Shakira, a resident of Bamyan city, the provincial capital, talking to Pajhwok, said “A program was organized in support of the Taliban and its recognition at Bamyan Gymnasium on Friday.”

She said that when the program ended, “two or three girls moved towards the stage and tore down background banners.”

Saif Rahman Mohammadi, information and culture director of Bamyan said, “A few days ago, a number of women’s rights activists came to us to hold a meeting in support of the Islamic Emirate and about the release of frozen money of Afghanistan, and we agreed and organized a meeting for them.”

He said, “The meeting ended without any problems, but it may have happened after the event ended, but I repeat that the meeting was not disrupted.”
