KABUL (Pajhwok): The United States has welcomed the Taliban’s ban on poppy cultivation, as well as the use and production of drugs in Afghanistan
In a tweet, US Charge’ d’Affaires McCary said outlawing the production of narcotics in Afghanistan was a positive first step
Enforcing the ban would be the key, wrote the diplomat, referring to the decree from the Taliban’s supreme leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada. Legitimate and healthy agriculture would benefit Afghanistan and its people, believed the US diplomat.
McCary wrote: “Having a healthy and licit agricultural sector will help Afghanistan’s economy and ultimately the Afghan people.”
