No US strike in Afghanistan since last year’s pullout

KABUL (Pajhwok): Since their withdrawal from Afghanistan last year, US military forces have not conducted a single airstrike in Afghanistan, says a media report.

Military Times quoted army officials as insisting that they still had the capability of monitoring and neutralising threats in Afghanistan.

All American forces left the country last summer in a haphazard manner after the Taliban took over the country in mid-August 2021.

At a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, Gen. Richard Clarke, US Special Operations Command head, admitted US intelligence resources in Afghanistan had shrunken after the pullout.

However, he explained that logistics challenges and the lack of strikes did not mean that the US forces were unable to provide over-the-horizon monitoring.
