KABUL (Pajhwok): The cabinet has directed relevant authorities to strictly prevent import of substandard and low quality medicines and food to the country.
The cabinet asked the ministries of public health, agriculture and the norms and standards authority, pharmaceutical and food agencies to stop the import of low-quality food, agricultural, pharmaceutical and other low-quality products to the country.
The Office of the Administration Affairs has posted some of the decisions of the last cabinet meeting on its Twitter account.
According to the decisions: “The Ministries of Public Health and Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, the National Agency for Standards and Norms and the Pharmaceuticals and Food Authority are tasked with preventing the import of substandard food, agricultural products, medicines and more to the country.
The ministries and agencies have been asked to establish necessary coordination in this regard.
Due to lack of necessary controls, in addition to substandard food items, low quality and expired medicines are also being imported into the country.
