KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has inaugurated a major oilfield in northern Sar-i-Pul province.
The deputy premier bulled the Qashqari oilfield as an important project, saying it was an integral part of the government’s development schemes.
Revenue from the oilfield would be spent on other development schemes as well, Baradar told the inaugural ceremony on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister of mines and petroleum said around 200 tonnes of fuel oil would be extracted from the field daily.
Shahabuddin Delawar added: “Revenue from all mines will be collected by the Da Afghanistan Bank. We have not signed a contract yet. The government is extracting the oil itself.”
