KABUL (Pajhwok): Ex-president Hamid Karzai has asked the Taliban administration to heed religious scholars’ demand for reopening schools for girls.
Last week’s National Dialogue of Afghan Scholars issued an impassioned call for the reopening of girls’ schools.
The ulema saw no legal reason for stopping girls above sixth grade from attending school. In a resolution, they said girls’ education was not in conflict with Islamic teachings.
The call from the religious scholars was the demand of the entire nation, the former president wrote on his Twitter account on Saturday.
