Iran says plot afoot to spoil ties with Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Iranian embassy in Kabul has warned of plots to spoil cordial relations between Tehran and Kabul.

Reacting to a series of recent media reports, the embassy alleged such baseless stories were aimed at sowing discord between the two neighbours.

In a statement, the embassy insisted Iran’s policy towards Afghanistan and its citizens was based on the principle of good neighborliness and mutual respect.

In a statement, the embassy said the images and videos of Afghan refugees were planned in a bid to drive a wedge between Kabul and Tehran.

Despite the economic problems triggered by sanctions, Iran had not created any hurdles to the entry of Afghan citizens and still welcomed new immigrants, the statement added.

Afghan citizens wishing to travel to Iran could apply for visas and enter the neighbouring legally, the statement explained.

Speaking to TOLOnews, Aminian blamed the People’s Mujahideen Organisation of Iran for appointing thousands of individuals to release such clips.
