PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The president of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed Pakistan’s decision on launching barter trade with Afghanistan and Iran.
The move would strengthen trilateral trade relations and foster existing economic ties among the three countries, he hoped.
Speaking to a delegation of traders in Islamabad, Iftikhar Ali Malik praised Pakistan’s decision to allow imports and exports under barter trade with the two neighbours.
Radio Pakistan quoted Malik as saying that barter trade had tremendous importance in terms of regional trade connectivity and boosting foreign exchange.
An appropriate mechanism for barter trade would be jointly put in place by Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, he hoped.
A special desk has been set up at the SAARC Chamber headquarters to facilitate traders of member countries, especially Afghanistan.
