MEHTARLAM (Pajhwok): Initiated in the previous government, nearly a dozen projects could not be completed in eastern Laghman province, the director of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said on Tuesday.
Maulvi Mohammad Zahir Zarkamar told Pajhwok Afghan News that work on a number of development projects worth 135.3 million afghanis had been halted in Mehtarlam, Alingar, Alishang and Qarghi districts of the province.
He added that the projects include retaining walls, embankments, cable car pools, concrete roads and solar water networks.
“We have been promised by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) that work will be resumed on these projects in the near future,” he said.
He said efforts were being made to restart the projects and hoped that work on the unfinished projects would start soon.
