LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Construction work on a 700-meter canal has been completed and the project put into service in southern Helmand province, officials said on Tuesday.
Engineer Mohammad Abbas Zirak, director of engineering and infrastructure at the municipality, told Pajhwok Afghan News the canal, located in Safyan area of Lashkargah’s fourth district, was 1.5 to two meters wide and cost 6.4 million afghanis.
He said construction work on the canal was started five months ago.
Meanwhile, another municipality official Abdul Sattar Barak told Pajhwok Afghan News the canal would help clean the area as rainwater would flow out of the city through the canal.
