KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan acting government has rejected media reports regarding the killing or kidnapping of nearly 500 civilian and military personnel of the previous Afghan government.
Earlier, New York Times reported, that about 500 former Afghan officials, military personnel and those believed to have collaborated with the US had been murdered or kidnapped after the Taliban take over.
The paper confirmed 86 killings in Baghlan province alone and 114 people went missing in Kandahar province. “The Taliban are exploiting the amnesty as a trap to lure soldiers out of hiding,” according to the report.
But Government Deputy Spokesperson Enamullah Samangani said: “New York Times report is far from reality and is prejudiced; facts, figures and information in the report were fake.”
He said the people of Afghanistan have a peaceful life in their country, and their lives, wealth, and honor are protected and secured.
He stressed: “Islamic Emirate was committed to the amnesty announced by its supreme leaders and the purpose of New York Time report was to spread hate and disintegrate the people of Afghanistan.”
