KABUL (Pajhwok): A military court has handed down punishments to some criminals, an official said on Wednesday.
Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the convicts included seven kidnappers.
He identified the kidnappers as Abdullah, son of Mohibullah, Haqmal, son of Gul Jan, Nazar Gul, son of Malak Jan, Khalilullah, son of Nasrullah, Mohammad Younis, son of Mirza Mohammad, Saifullah, son of Rahimullah, and Mohibullah, son of Niaz Mohammad.
Ghulam Rasoul, son of Ghulam Mohammad, was convicted on murder charges. Dawood Khan, son of Azad Khan, was convicted of robbery.
Rahim Jan, son of Janat Gul, and some other accused have also been handed down different punishments.
The objective behind the punishments was to ensure the dignity of the Islamic system in the country and stop the misuse of the mujahideen’s name, he explained.
He said the military court investigated cases and punished individuals posing as members of the Islamic Emirate.
However, they committed unlawful actions that caused harm to the people and brought a bad name to the Islamic Emirate.
