KABUL (Pajhwok): A European Parliament member has called for the reopening of girls’ schools and making the incumbent Afghan government more inclusive.
Hannah Neuman, currently on a visit to Kabul, recalled the touching scenes on March 23 when girls were asked to leave soon after their schools reopened.
The German politician, addressing a media briefing here on Wednesday, stressed the inclusion of social groups in the Taliban government.
She hailed the Taliban as good fighters who seized the whole country in August last year in a matter of days. However, she hastened to explain that governance was a different ball game.
“I hope to see soon some kind of dialogue between the Afghan people, including women and minority leaders,” she remarked.
If such a dialogue did not take place, Neuman warned, frustration and violations would rise in the country.
She went on to voice deep concern at enforced disappearances in Afghanistan, saying she had heard stories about violence against protestors and journalists.
