KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) plans to restart a literacy programme in Afghanistan.
UNESCO officials Sarah El Attar and Parniyan Wahidi discussed with Minister of Education Maulvi Noorullah Munir the resumption of the literacy programme.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed that technical teams would start working on the text of an agreement on and a working mechanism for the literacy programme, the state-run Bakhtar News Agency reported.
More than a million Afghans had benefited from the literacy programme over the past decades, according to the Ministry of Education.
