37-member Pakistani cabinet sworn in

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s 37-member cabinet was sworn in at the President’s House in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani administered the oath to federal cabinet members. A day earlier, President Arif Alvi refused to take oath from the ministers.

The cabinet includes 31 federal ministers, three ministers of state and as many advisers.

Khwaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Miftah Ismail, Javed Latif, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Javed Abbasi and Azam Nazeer Tarar of the ruling PMK-N took oath as federal ministers.

From the PPP, Khursheed Shah, Naveed Qamar, Sherry Rehman, Abdul Qadir Patel, Shazia Marri, Syed Murtaza Mahmud, Sajid Hussain Turi, Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari and Abid Hussain were sworn in as federal ministers.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam MPs Asad Mahmood, Abdul Wasay and Abdul Shakoor were also sworn in.

The new cabinet also includes representatives of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Balochistan Awami Party, Jamhoori Watan Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.

Aisha Ghaus Pasha and Abdul Rehman Khan Kanju of the PML-N and Hina Rabbani Khar of the PPP took oath as ministers of state.
