KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting Afghan foreign minister during a telephonic conversation with his Iranian counterpart discussed the problems of  Afghan refugees in Iran, recent incidents, bilateral relations and other important issues.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that acting foreign minister, Amir Khan Mottaqi and Iranian foreign minister, Amir Abdollahian, talked over the phone on Monday.

The two sides discussed Afghan refugees’ problems in Iran, recent events, bilateral relations, diplomatic missions, security, trade, economy and some other important issues, the statement said.

Muttaqi was quoted in the statement as saying that an Afghan delegation will visit Iran in the near future to discuss issues related to Afghan refugees in the neighboring country.

“Some biased figures are trying to use the social media to promote hatred and hostility between the people of Afghanistan and Iran and to fuel violence,” the source said.

Both sides pledged not to give a chance to an atmosphere of hatred and distance between the two countries, the statement added.

The Iranian foreign minister welcomed the decree of the Afghan government banning cultivation and sale of narcotics and assured of cooperation with Afghan farmers in creating alternatives.

Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement confirmed the telephonic conversation and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has a positive and constructive view of Afghanistan, and delegations’ visits between the two countries were aimed at strengthening cooperation, humanitarian aid and keeping Iran’s missions active in providing services to the Afghan people.”

Iranian foreign ministry asked Afghanistan to cooperate in border management, prevention of illegal crossings and the implementation of bilateral commitments between the two countries.
