KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 1,400 Afghan nationals have been repatriated from Iran, says the Ministry of Refugee Affairs.
A total of 1,429 Afghan refugees were repatriated from the neighbouring country on Monday, the ministry said in a statement.
It said 39 families, including 160 people, and 788 single individuals were sent back home compulsorily.
Eight families, including 191 people, and 450 single individuals, returned to Afghanistan voluntary, the statement added.
The ministry, which referred the returning refugees to IOM for assistance, noted a spike in deportations from Iran.
Last month, it said, thousands of Afghan citizens were deported from Iran, where the situation of Afghans is unfavorable.
