HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The residents of western Herat City have complained about the deteriorated condition of Afghani banknotes and asked relevant authorities to pay attention to the problem.

Jan Ali, the resident of Herat City, told Pajhwok Afghan News Afghani banknotes from 10 to 100 are completely decayed and people avoid receiving them in the market from customers.

Attaullah, another resident of Herat City, said during daily buying of essential items people always face the problem of deteriorated banknotes.

Herat residents complained against the availability of old banknotes in the market and urged authorities to address this issue.

A university teacher Prof. Hadi Kheradwarz Tawana, said national banknotes should be valued as a national identity.

He said if the safety of Afghani currency is compared with the currency of other counties one could see that Afghani currency deteriorated more than any other currency. He said the safety of any currency is linked with its owner.

He said one way of solution to this problem was the use of electronic cards instead of cash, it will prevent the circulation of money and ultimately banknotes will be protected.

Herat Information Director Mawlana Naeemul Haq Haqqani asked the residents of Herat province to ensure the protection of Afghani currency.

He said the Afghani currency was facing unfair treatment in the market.
