KABUL (Pajhwok): Special envoys of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) secretary general and the United States have discussed the situation in Afghanistan.
At a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Tarig Ali Bakhiet and Thomas West conferred on a wide range of issues, the OIC General Secretariat tweeted.
They discussed the situation in Afghanistan, including counterterrorism and the delay in reopening of girls’ schools.
Humanitarian and economic assistance for the Afghan people, security developments and the right of Afghan girls to education also figured at the meeting.
Rina Amir, the US special envoy for Afghan women, girls, and human rights, also participated in the meeting, the OIC added.
Also in attendance were the secretary-general of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy and representatives of the Islamic Development Bank.
