PARAKH (Pajhwok): Flash floods wreaked havoc in the Shetal district of central Panjsher province, an official said on Thursday.
A bridge, portions of a road, nine large and small shops, and a water storage facility have been damaged in the flash floods triggered by heavy rains.
Maulvi Nasrullah Malikzada, director of culture and information, confirmed to Pajhwok Afghan News the damages caused by flash floods.
He said the main road of the province in KorabaShetal area was closed for five hours due to the floods but reopened by Natural Disaster Management department.
He added the department was also planning to clear the canals.
Ahmadullah, a resident of Shetal district, said: “There are still some roads which are closed in the district, most of the canals are damaged so the government must repair the canals because they are needed for agriculture.”
