AI campaigner concerned at torture of Afghans in Iran

KABUL (Pajhwok): An Amnesty International campaigner has voiced her grave concern over the alleged torture of Afghan refugees on Iran.

Samira Hamidi denounced the blatant human rights violations and torture of Afghan refugees in the neighbouring country as inhumane.

Hamidi told Radio Free Afghanistan: “Iran’s border guards force Afghan refugees by guns at borders and oust them from their country.”

Hamidi added: “Reliable sources have confirmed torture of Afghan refugees by border guards of Iran. The footage t showing discriminatory and shocking acts of Iranians … is a blatant act of violation of human rights.”

The campaigner urged the global fraternity to address the issues being faced by Afghan refugees in Iran, including visa extensions and payment systems.
