Boy gunned down in Nangarhar capital, police say

JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A boy has been killed in gunfire from armed men traveling in a rickshaw in Jalalabad, capital of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said.

The boy’s father, Haji Wais who works at the Nangarhar Zonal Hospital, told Pajhwok Afghan News his son was killed at a checkpoint in the Zeran area of Jalalabad on Saturday night.

“It is unclear who killed my son, but security forces told me that he was shot dead by gunmen traveling in a rickshaw,” he added.

Qari Sayed Alam, police chief for the 7th police district of Jalalabad, confirmed the incident and said the child was killed by men traveling in a rickshaw.

He said they convinced the victim’s family that security personnel were not involved in the incident.

On the other hand, some social media users claimed the boy was killed by the security forces.
