‘Neighboring countries creating troubles for Afghanistan’

KABUL (Pajhwok): Acting defense minister on Sunday said the world was at opposition with Afghanistan and its neighbors were causing troubles for the war-torn country.

Mullah Yaqub Mujahid, acting defense minister, made the remarks at a gathering in Kabul today to mark the ninth anniversary of the death of Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid, the founder of the Islamic Emirate.

He said Afghanistan was currently facing various challenges and problems. “The world is in opposition with Afghanistan and its neighbors are also causing problems to our country”, he added.

Referring to recent Pakistani airstrikes and rocket attacks in Khost and Kunar provinces, he said, “This time we bore the bombing for national interests but no such actions would be tolerated in the future.”

No one could achieve their evil goals with acts of aggression, he said. He assured that no one from inside or outside could undermine or threaten Afghanistan’s security.

Talking in the ninth death anniversary of his father, Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid, he said that the founder of Islamic Emirate had protected Afghanistan from division and had thwarted all plots of enemies.

During the ceremony, Abdul Salam Hanafi, deputy prime minister, said that Afghanistan wanted to build relations with its neighbors and the world on the basis of mutual respect.

Hanafi said Afghanistan’s soil will not be used against any country and other countries should not allow its soil to be used against Afghanistan.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, first deputy prime minister, said that Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid was a man of great courage, patience, perseverance and high personality.

He said that Mujahid continued his struggle under very difficult conditions and suffered a lot of problems in his struggle.

Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid died nine years ago due to illness.
