KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran has accepted three diplomats the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has dispatched to the Afghan embassy in Tehran.
One of three diplomats would work as the third secretary of the embassy, the BBC reported on Monday. The other two will serve as general employees.
The movement of diplomats between the capital and embassies was a common issue, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman was quoted as saying.
Saeed Khatibzadeh explained: “Iran will not hand over the embassy to a government that we have not recognised.”
But no international conventions barred the movement of diplomats, the spokesman maintained.
Several countries, including Pakistan, Russia, China, Turkmenistan and Qatar, have already accredited Taliban-appointed diplomats.
