KABUL (Pajhwok): The Iranian president has accused the US and NATO forces of failing to provide security for Afghanistan or the region at large.
Ebrahim Raisi blamed the US and NATO presence in Afghanistan for widespread destruction and killings in the war-torn country.
IRNA reported on Monday that Raisi made the remarks in meetings with new ambassadors of Latvia and Armenia.
Speaking to the ambassador-designate of the Republic of Latvia, the president claimed the US and NATO presence in Afghanistan had yielded no positive results.
The conflict in Ukraine must not divert world’s attention from the crisis in Afghanistan and a large population of refugees, he stressed.
