Sabir was invited by the Public Health Department of Maidan Wardak and was awarded a 50,000 afs cash prize for his innovative skills.

In an exclusive chat with Pajhwok Afghan News, Sabir said the idea to invent the artificial hand came to his mind when he saw a disabled man struggling.

After this, he said, the idea of making an artificial hand came to his mind. He made this in 11 days, using simple tools.

He said: “I have used electric cables, adhesive tape, a charger and wood in making the artificial hand. Even a very less fortunate disabled person could afford it.”

Sabir added: This artificial hand could move by the orders or macules and nervous system, figures of this artificial hand could move according to the mind.”

“When I was in class eight, I started innovations and now they reached 50. Forty of these innovations are accomplished while ten more are incomplete due to the lack of funds,” said Sabir.

He said there were more ideas in his mind that could be translated into action with a small budget.

Health Director Mohammad Zarak Zeerak hailed Sabir’s innovation and assured him of full cooperation.

He acknowledged Sabir had made the artificial hand using simple tools, and that the limb complied with orders from the neuron system.

Abdul Baseer, the father of Mohammad Sabir, said despite the economic and financial crisis, he encouraged his children to focus on their studies.

“I don’t want money, I want the government to help Sabir realise his ideas and provide him a platform on local and international levels,” he said.

Governor Mohammad Amin Umari commended Sabir’s achievement and pledged support for his higher education and other future missions.

Umari awarded a 50,000 afs prize to Sabir for his encouragement.
