300 less fortunate Maidan Wardak families distributed food items

MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has distributed food assistance among 300 less fortunate families in Maidan Shahar, the capital of central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Thursday.

Abdul Qodus Umar, the ARCS provincial representative, said a survey was earlier conducted in which less fortunate families; orphanage and disabled persons were identified.

He added the food assistance was provided by Turkey and distributed through ARCS.

Each food assistance package included 50-kilogram of flour, five litres of cooking oil, five kilograms of rice, five kilograms of macroni, two kilograms of beans, a can of tomato paste and one blanket.

Turkish RCS representative Fraid Ahmad Zia said this process kicked started from January and implemented in Kabul and some other provinces.
