MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The death toll from Thursday blasts in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province has surged to 11 while 17 others are injured, an official said.
Balkh Police Spokesperson Mohammad Asif Waziri earlier told Pajhwok Afghan News 11 people were killed and 13 others injured in two separate blasts in Mazar-i-Sharif City on Thursday evening.
But public health director Najibullah Tawana told Pajhwok Afghan News 11 people had been killed and 17 others injured in the two blasts.
Among the diseased were a child, two women and eight elderly persons, he said, adding seven injured people were in critical condition while three injured lost their legs.
According to reports Daesh claimed responsibility for the two blasts.
