JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Unidentified gunmen have killed a former security official and resident of the Dara-i-Noor district of eastern Nangarhar province, residents said on Saturday.
Local officials, however, said it was an honour killing motivated by tensions among relatives.
Shaukat Khan, a resident of Dara-i-Noor district, said unknown gunmen shot dead Taj Mohammad, who served in the Public Order Police, on Friday. The incident took place in Sar Galak area, he added.
But the district’s administrative chief, Akhundzada Kochai, linked Taj Mohammad’s murder to personal enmity.
“The incident happened at Iftar time. The site where the murder happened is far from the district centre. We reached there late at night. We found it was an honor killing.”
Resident of the locality who have now migrated to Kama district killed Taj Mohammad and a girl from his family, said Kochai.
He added the district police chief and crime branch officials had been sent to Kama district to investigate the incident.
