KABUL (Pajhwok): Health workers, extending their Eid greetings to the people, have urged the masses to prevent overcrowding at hospitals.
This Pajhwok Afghan News reporter visited the Malalai Maternity Hospital during the Eid festival, where staffers were seen busy providing services to patients.
Dr. Malalai Faizai, head of the hospital, extended her warm greetings to the people and said doctors ensured their presence and served the people during the Eid under all circumstances.
She said more patients visited the state-run hospitals during Eid when private facilities were generally closed. A number of patients came from neighbouring provinces too.
She said all available resources were used to serve patients entering the hospital. “We want citizens to comply with rules and regulations. We don’t allow family members of patients inside the hospital.
“People complain why they are not allowed to accompany patients. They should understand our position and avoid unnecessary overcroweding.”
In her message, she said: “Our medical staff is at the service of the people and we ask all fellow citizens to respect rules of the hospital. We don’t allow family members of patients inside the hospital. People complain why we don’t allow relatives to enter the hospital. They should understand and avoid overcrowding.”
A woman, who gave birth to her first child in the hospital on the first day of Eid, commented: “My joy has doubled. Today, my first baby girl has arrived in the world. I have great feelings that can’t be expressed in words.”
She thanked all personnel of the hospital. “I was worried on my way to the hospital, believing there will be no doctor. But now I am very happy that during Eid doctors are available to serve people,” she concluded.
