KABUL (Pajhwok): US Special Representative for Afghan Girls and Women Rights Rina Ameeri has discussed the current situation of Afghan women and girls with the representatives of Islamic countries.

During iftar dinner meeting they agreed that Muslim world must champion the rights of Afghan women and girls.

On her Twitter handle Ameeri wrote: “Co hosted an Iftar dinner with @US_Protocol & Ambassadors from several Muslim-majority countries. Agreed that the Muslim world must champion the rights of Afghan women & girls. Taliban policies denying girls & women education & jobs aren’t seen in any other Muslim-majority country.”

“Discussed challenges in Afg. w/Nordic partners, including ban on girls return to schools & attacks targeting Hazaras. Agreed on importance of unity in pushing the Taliban to reopen schools & demanding protection of all Afghans, particularly ethnic & religious minorities.”
