KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): Children of the fallen soldiers of the former and current governments jointly celebrated the third day of Eid-ul-Fitr in Khost province on Tuesday.

The ceremony, organized by the intelligence service at the Hakim Taniwal Amusement Park, was attended by children of soldiers killed on both sides of the 20-year-old war and local government officials.

Qari Obaidullah Abul Haba, a spokesman for Khost’s intelligence department, said the current caretaker government viewed the orphans of the previous regime and the orphans of the Taliban as the same and considered it their duty to protect and care for them.

He said they wanted to help the orphans get education even higher education and they had a program in this regard.

Mohammad Wali, 12, is one of the orphans whose father was killed in a clash with security forces of the previous regime.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News he did not want his peers to be deprived of the blessings of father and their future to be uncertain.

Dostanullah, 14-year-old boy, is one of the children whose father was killed in the previous government’s security forces. He said he also wanted peace and stability in the country so other children avoided his fate.
