KABUL (Pajhwok): Heavy floods and storms have killed at least 20 people in different provinces of the country, an official said on Thursday.
Ministry of State for Disaster Management official Maulvi Sharafuddin Muslim said 30 individuals were wounded in recent floods in more than 10 provinces.
Besides causing casualties, floods, rains and storms damaged people’s properties and killed livestock. At least 400 houses were destroyed.
The government, trying to cope with the situation, plans to urge international relief organizations for assistance.
Badghis, Faryab and Baghlan were the worst-hit provinces. Some 2,000 homes were damaged, 300 animals killed and around 3,000 acres of crops harmed.
