ATLANTA, USA (Pajhwok): Chairman of the US Joint Chief of Staff General Mark Milley has said they will take appropriate action if Daesh or other terrorist groups raised their heads in Afghanistan.
Testifying before the Senate on Tuesday along with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, General Milley said ISIS and other groups were trying to regroup but they had not succeeded yet.
He said such groups had not yet presented a threat to the US homeland but they were watching them closely.
The Taliban deny the group’s presence in the country and say Daesh presence is very small and a lot of its sanctuaries have been eliminated so far.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid had said Daesh conducted some attacks on a school and mosques but have not accomplished anything significant.
“We are serious about our security and will not allow anyone to cause insecurity.”
