KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations secretary-general sees no possibility of a comprehensive ceasefire or lasting peace in Ukraine.

Antonio told journalists in Vienna on Wednesday” “At the present moment, there are no immediate chances of a peace agreement or immediate chances for a global ceasefire.”

The UN secretary-general was asked if he understood Russia’s endgame after talks with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on April 26.

Guterres responded in the negative, asking countries to focus their diplomatic efforts on providing humanitarian aid and having civilians evacuated from the combat zones.

TASS news agency quoted him as saying it was necessary to find a way if bringing food production of Ukraine and food and fertilizer production of Russia back to global markets.
