2,500 Sar-i-Pul children involved in labour: Official 

SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): The Director of Social Affairs Department of northern Sar-i-Pul province says 2,500 children are involved in labour in the province.

Mawlavi Mohammad Mubashir told Pajhwok Afghan News the Child Protection Committee and Social Affairs Department had jointly registered 2,500 children involved in street labour.

He said 1,500 of these children were involved in labour in Sar-i-Pul city, the provincial capital, and 1,000 were subjected to child labour in Balkhab, Kohistanat, Sancharak, Gosfandi, SozmaQala and Sayad districts.

He said the Social Affairs Department did not have the capacity to support these children but pledged in case of financial resources from another address the Social Affairs Department was ready to generate job and vocational training opportunities for these children.
