KABUL (Pajhwok): The Indian government is pondering over the reopening of its embassy in Kabul, says a media report.
Like some other countries, India closed its embassy in Afghanistan’s capital on August 17 -- two days after the Taliban came to power.
However, Chinese, Pakistan, Russian and Iranian embassies remain functional. The Taliban have been urging countries to reopen their diplomatic missions.
Kabul has repeatedly asked New Deli to reopen its embassy, promising the Taliban would do all they could to provide security for Indian diplomats.
The Week reported on Tuesday: “Reopening the embassy will be, without senior-level diplomats. The embassy will be open with limited personnel for liaison purposes ...”
