MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Fire Department in northern Balkh province says its workers have extinguished about 75 fire incidents, saving people’s property worth 965 million afghanis.
Fire Brigade Director Abdul Mobin Fayyaz told Pajhwok Afghan News the department’s trained staff had doused about 75 blazes since the fall of the previous administration.
He said the department had 96 employees at three stations in the province. The staffers remain ready round the clock to deal with such incidents.
Sayyed Roshan Zamir, another official of the department, confirmed they had put out 75 fires and rescued 17 people from harm in the past nine months.
He added during the 75 fire incidents, nearly 53 people suffered financial losses. But the department saved people’s property worth 965 million afs.
Mohsen Azimi, a worker of the fire department, said he was proud of his job and valued his work.
He explained some of the department’s equipment was out of order during the previous government. But currently, all tools are in working order and can put out fires as far as 55 metres.
Hamidullah, another professional worker, said he and his other colleagues had extinguished many fires in the province.
He added they had advanced equipment and vehicles that could store 20,000 litres of water.
