KANDAHAR (Pajhwok): The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in southern Kandahar province says 25000 tons of figs worth $149 million were exported abroad from the province during last solar year.
Officials and traders attribute the increase in figs exports to security on roads and the fruit’s demand in foreign markets.
Engineer Abdul Baqi Bina, deputy head of the Kandahar Chamber of Commerce, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the export of figs to foreign countries from Kandahar had increased by 100 per cent.
