UNICEF, WHO provide medical equipment to Sar-i-Pul

SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have provided medical equipment worth nine million afghanis to the Public Health Department of northern Sar-i-Pul province, an official said on Monday.

Dr. Kamran Zahid, director of the public health department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the medical tools were handed over to the department today by Solidarity for Afghan Families (SAF) organization.

Dr. Ghulam Habib Stanikzai, director of SAF in Sar-i-Pul, told Pajhwok the aid provided was based on an evaluation.

Stanikzai said the equipment included X-ray machines, ultrasound, heart-graph machines, various monitors, and power supplies.

SAF is a non-governmental, non-political and not-for-profit organization with an independent legal identity. It was registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Public Health in 2005.
