Conventional banking being converted into Islamic: DAB

KABUL (Pajhwok): The central bank on Sunday announced that efforts were underway to convert conventional banking into Islamic banking in the country.

In a statement, Da Afghanistan Bank (DAB) said that various issues related to Islamic banking were discussed at a meeting of the “religious supervision board” of the bank.

The statement quoted deputy director of the bank Abdul Qadir Ahmad as saying: “Islamic banking in the country is growing and improving, and it is expected that the conventional banking will be converted into Islamic banking.”

He vowed that the central bank was ready for all-out cooperation with the religious supervision board for the improvement of Islamic banking.

The source said that work was underway to change the conventional banking to Islamic banking and people would be able to invest in full confidence.
