ASADABAD (Pajhwok): A tribal jirga has resolved a three decades-old enmity between two rival families in eastern Kunar province, sources said on Monday.
The enmity had claimed the lives of two men and one woman.
A member of the jirga, religious scholar Maulvi Seed Waliullah told Pajhwok Afghan News that the enmity between families of Haji Abdul Wali and Qari Abdul Qahid began 30 years ago and was ended with mediation of the Sapi tribal council.
He said the two families pardoned each other during the jirga and promised to live peace in future.
Kunar governor Mohammad Qasim Khalid, who also attended the jirga, said Islam insisted on pardoning and Muslims should live an environment of brotherhood.
He urged tribal elders to intensify their efforts at ending such enmities.
