QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): Residents of western Badghis province have urged the government to resume work on the Qaisar-Laman ring road project.
The ring road starts from the Qaisar district of northern Faryab province and passes through Bala Murghab and Maqur, Qala-i-Naw and Laman before reaching western Herat province.
Gul Ahmad, a resident of Badghis, complained about the suspension of the construction work and said: “The project has been incomplete for years due to corruption. Everyone comes and embezzles funds for the road.”
He asked the government to resume work on the construction of the road as soon as possible.
Abdul Hamid, another resident, also grumbled about the delay in executing the project. He slammed previous government officials for paying no attention to the project.
Ghulam Rasoul, a driver, said the road was ruined and, cause damage to vehicles. He hoped the caretaker government would resume work on the remaining portion of the project.
Maulvi Abdul Rahmani Rahmani, director of public works, said he had shared the ring road issue with relevant officials, who promised cooperation on completing it.
“It is a natural that such projects come to a halt, more often than not. We are striving to serve our people for the sake of Allah’s pleasure. We have shared this issue with elders and they have promised cooperation,” he concluded.
