Bid to smuggle 933 sheep to Pakistan thwarted

QALAT/ LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Attempts to smuggle hundreds of sheep to neighboring Pakistan from southern Zabul and Helmand provinces have been foiled and 14 individuals detained.

Yar Mohammad Massoum, a spokesman for the 2nd brigade of Khaibar Corps in Zabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that security personnel prevented the smuggling of 750 sheep in Rasheed Qala area of Shamalzo district.

He said eight suspected smugglers were detained.

In Helmand, at least 183 sheep were prevented from being smuggled to Pakistan from the Garamser district and six individuals were detained.

Hafiz Rashid, director of information and culture, told Pajhwok Afghan News that six individuals were arrested along with 183 sheep loaded in a truck in Garamser district on Tuesday.

He added the smugglers wanted to transfer the sheep to Pakistan.
