Public transport buses launched on two other routes in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Kabul Municipality on Wednesday said eleven government buses had started plying on two routes in Kabul.

Wasiullah Zahid, a spokesman for the Kabul municipality, told Pajhwok Afghan News that six of the 11 buses would travel from Pamir Cinema to the airport and five others from Pamir Cinema to Ahmad Shah Baba Mena.

According to him, the buses will charge only 10 afghanis per person.

According to him, women can also travel in the buses and special seats have been provided for them.

"Security cameras have been installed in these buses to prevent them from deviating from the route," he added.

According to him, the operation of these buses would bring economic benefits to the people and also prevent congestion.

Zahid added that the Kabul municipality plans to launch similar buses on other routes as well.

Maulvi Khayal Mohammad, traffic manager of Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News the buses had started operating in coordination with Kabul traffic department, which would help ease congestion.

He said Kabul traffic department was trying to restore order in the city and not allow taxis with provincial number plates to ply the city road.

On the other hand, Dil Agha, a resident of Kabul, expressed happiness over the launch of government city buses and said that similar buses should be launched on other routes as well.

He added: "Due to unemployment, people face economic problems and can't afford to pay high fares. The municipality should activate such buses throughout the city to solve the transportation problems of the people to some extent."
