CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): Police in central Parwan province seized an explosives-laden vehicle belonging to Daesh militant group and blew it up, smashing windowpanes of nearby houses.
Police spokesman Mohammad Kamran Habibi said a Hino-type vehicle loaded with weapons and explosives was found in a house in the limits of 1st police district of Charikar City, the provincial capital.
According to his information, two Kalashnikovs, one rockets, 50 mortar shells, 21 kilograms of explosives, two suicide vests, hand grenades, 30 mobile phone sets and a carton full of phone batteries.
He said the seized items were blown up. Three individuals, including a woman, were arrested in connection with the seizure.
Explosion causes damages to nearby homes
Obaidullah, 19, a resident of the area, said their house windowpanes were shattered due to the powerful explosion.
“I suffered 100,000 afghanis loss, the government must help me repair the windowpanes, one of my neighbors fell unconscious due to the explosion.”
The explosion was carried out near the Ahmad Shah Massoud High school.
Mujeeb Rahman, principal of the school, said that security forces had informed the residents of the area before the explosion but it was powerful and caused damages to nearby houses. He urged the government compensate the affected households.
Dr. Abdul Khalil Haidari, director of the 100-bed hospital in Parwan, told Pajhwok two individuals with slight injuries had been brought to the hospital and were discharged after receiving the first medical aid.
